We STILL haven't got anywhere with the MRI for her spine but I hope that situation will change soon as I have resorted to sending a angry letter to her neurosurgeon highlighting my concerns seeing as all my other attempts of getting through to him had failed. But over the past week, Caitlin has been asking for a "Mummy hand walk" or a "Daddy hand walk" (were she walks holding one of ours hands) rather than us pleading with her to do it lol. Today she walked around the house for ages with her Daddy just holding onto one of his fingers for support, she kept shouting, "Look at me, I'm walking!!" She was so proud of herself and I am so proud of her! Hopefully she is just over familiar with her walker and that's why she's been leaning on it more for support as she's doing great when she's walking with us helping :)
In other news, the education board has decided to do as assessment on Caitlin for a special educational needs statement. Basically, she needs a assistant to help her with her catheter and prehaps some support for school work when she's older due to her hydrocephalus although she's having no problems with her development so far, apart from being delayed in her mobility. So we have had so so many appointments with people coming to assess her, from educational psychologists to paediatricians to pre school teachers. Caitlin passed all their assessments with flying colours :) We are trying to get her a place in Fleming Fulton which is a school for children with physical disabilities. It took me a long time to decide whether to go for a nursery school placement in mainstream or at Fleming. I decided on Fleming for a few reasons. She gets a placement there for 2 years (from aged 2 - 4) were as if she goes to mainstream she would only get a year nursery placement (from aged 3 - 4) so I think she will get a headstart if she goes to Fleming. Fleming has much more qualified staff to deal with her needs and she will get more one to one time if she goes there. OT, PT, the doctor that deals with her Afo's, and a nurse are all in Fleming so it's all incorporated into her nursery time and she will get much more therapy if she attends Fleming as opposed to continuing to go the therapy in the community. Thing is, Fleming Fulton is so popular and there is limited places so we don't know if she will get a place, I hope so. I think it's the best option for her for nursery. After that I'm pretty much decided she'll go to mainstream school :)
Apart from the endless appointments & working we have managed to fit in some fun time! We went to Donegal for St Patricks Day & went to the parade.
She loved the fact that she was wearing green and her walker was green too lol.

Today we went to the farm. If there is animals Caitlin is one happy little lady. She even got to feed a lamb! She laughed the entire time she fed her with a little help from her Mummy :)
(Yes the lamb is being fed from a bottle of Budweiser, but it was milk inside and there was a teat on the end lol.)
